All about Explorers

The Explorer section provides a programme for 14 to 18 year olds.  This is provided through the network of Explorer units in Royal Kingston District which are base in surrounding Scout Groups. Explorers meet regularly once a week in term time.  They also arrange and participate in various activities at weekends and during school holidays.  Content of meetings is very similar to Scouts except that the programme is set and organised by the Explorers themselves with adult leaders present only to provide advice and guidance.

Most Explorers choose to participate in the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award scheme and use this to build toward the highest award in Scouting which is to become a Queen’s Scout.
